# Slack integration

> Connect Slack to Islo, understand what it enables, and check which Suggested Lines need it.

Send requests to Islo from channels or direct messages and follow progress in the same conversation. Connect Slack after you have a factory to delegate work to.

## Connect in the dashboard

Open [Manage → Integrations](https://app.islo.dev/integrations), select **Slack**, and select **Connect**. You can also connect it in the onboarding wizard's **Connect tools** step.

Authorize the Islo Slack app for your workspace and invite it to the channel where you want to send work. Mention the app with a task and repository or issue link, or send it a direct message.

## Connect with the CLI

```bash
islo login --tool slack
```

Complete the browser authorization, then return to Islo. See [Authentication](/cli/authentication) for team and personal connection scope. Agents use the connected tool through the [gateway](/cli/gateways).

## Which Suggested Lines need it?

Slack is not a required integration for any current Suggested Line. **Triage a bug** is designed for Slack bug reports; it requires GitHub and Linear, and connecting Slack enables its conversational entry point. You can also start it manually with a bug description.

Check the requirements shown on the [Suggested Line](/use-cases/suggested-lines) before deployment. Connect a missing tool or choose a Line whose requirements you meet.

## Next steps

Follow the [quickstart](/getting-started/quick-start) to create your first factory. Once it exists, [delegate work](/operate/delegations) from a connected tool or [configure an integration trigger](/concepts/triggers) to start work automatically.
