# Build a custom Line

> Use the Islo skill with a local coding agent to define and validate a Line.

Build a custom Line when a Suggested Line does not match your work. A Line defines how a run starts, which Agents do the work, and how the run moves between stages.

## Build with a local agent

Install the [Islo skills](https://github.com/islo-labs/skills) in your local coding agent:

```bash
npx skills add islo-labs/skills
```

Ask the agent to use the **factory-lines** skill to design and validate a Line for your outcome. Give it the repository, trigger, required inputs, and expected result. The skill guides the agent through the Line manifest, Agent and Machine setup, schema checks, and run controls. Review the proposed files and deployment plan before the agent deploys them.

For a first run, follow [Deploy your first Line](/getting-started/quick-start). The [Lines](/concepts/lines) guide explains stages and versions. Ask the agent to use `islo schema factory --short` and `islo schema agent` to check its files against the installed CLI.
