Suggested Lines

Suggested Lines are read-only starting points. Each suggestion includes a Line and its suggested Agents. You choose a factory, prepare a Machine, connect required integrations, and deploy the suggestion. Supply task-specific input when you start a run.

Start with issue triage for a reported bug or feature delivery for a planned Linear ticket. Bug fix explains the path from triage to a pull request and the dashboard’s ci-fix template. For different stages or triggers, build a custom Line.

Prepare the factory

  1. Select a factory.
  2. Connect the integrations listed by the suggestion.
  3. Create and verify a Machine for any Agents the suggestion must create.
  4. Deploy the suggestion from the factory UI or API.
  5. Run the Line with the input it requests, then inspect the run.

The API lists suggestions at GET /factories/{factory}/line-suggestions and deploys one with POST /factories/{factory}/line-suggestions/{key}/deploy. The deploy request can name a machine. If it does not, the factory’s most recently created Machine is used when new Agents are needed. Existing matching Agents keep their Machine assignments.

A missing integration, a conflicting Agent or Line name, or an unavailable Machine stops deployment with a 409 reason. A failed or stopped first Machine build cannot supply new Agents. If you retry after a partial failure, matching Agents and an unchanged Line are reused. Check the API response’s details.reason, correct the named resource, and retry. The factory troubleshooting guide lists these cases.
